Emilia (60) leads a secure life in Calabria with her husband Francesco (63). But her calm everyday existence as a municipal employee approaching retirement is disturbed by her husband's diagnosis of Alzheimer's and her concern for her two children, Giuseppe (35), unemployed in Calabria, and especially her youngest son, Antonello (32). Antonello has been living in Germany for several years, trying to earn a living as an artist. He struggles to make ends meet with odd jobs, but he tries to hide this from his parents. Corvaz is a simple and instinctive thirty-year-old man who works hard in his father’s vineyard and adores wandering around with his dog Toni. Life in the mountain village all centres on the bar, owned by a wealthy winemaker/landowner and managed by his son’s girlfriend. The men pass their time drinking, in an environment marked by resentment and false friendships, when one night, the wooden statues standing in the square are vandalised. Corvaz is immediately blamed. Even Mara, the lively barmaid, believes that it was him. However, trying to overcome the collective hostility, she meets up with him and a friendship develops, while the community’s desire for revenge becomes increasingly stronger. The code of respect that has held them together has now been broken.

Following the Soviet Union’s collapse, Moldova entered a long period of economic decline that lasts to this day. In the early 90s many young mothers left their country to provide an income for their families. These women stayed in touch with their children by sending large cardboard boxes filled with gifts and videotapes.
Otilia Babara tells the story of her generation. The story of a group of girls that grew up in the 90s and that, after the independence of their country, came at a crossroad in history. Using intimate private archives, this poetic film depicts the vulnerability of family ties through the eyes of mothers and daughters who were forced to live apart in order to survive.

One hour drive from Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital, everyone has to pass a strict border control, when leaving the “Free West” towards Belarus, “the last dictatorship in Europe”. Crossing this border is a time consuming and almost absurd performance. However, there are people who are confronted with this border on a daily basis, where the border literally cuts through their backyard. What used to be a daily routine of paying a visit to relatives or friends, going to church or to the cemetery now became a complicated process involving crosspoint schedules, visa and other complicated bureaucratic procedures. A great example of forgotten 'European outskirts', the paradox of the free Schengen region which here is dividing communities, families and lives.

In the Italian foothills, summer is almost over. Mirko and Max meet in the forest and wander in abandoned places, trying to imagine a possible future, while Giorgia and Lorenzo live timid moments of intimacy. In the background, a daily life of a community of teenagers with ASD, who manage to live in balance between real and fantastic, physical and metaphysical, fear and pleasure of getting lost. They somehow live “outside” time, a condition that allows them to experience an ephemeral present made of discoveries, rituals and relationships. Marana is a journey into the world of autism, where the desires of youth are recorded in their simple becoming.

Every 19th January during Epiphany, a unique ceremony takes place all around Macedonia: the high priest throws a cross into the local waters while hundreds of men charge for it. The one who finds it is blessed for the whole next year and becomes kind of a local hero. Petrunija is single unemployed 31-year-old woman and a historian who lives with her parents. Returning home from a failed job interview in a sweatshop factory she witnesses the ceremony, decides to jump, swims and catches the cross. Immediately, the men attack her and wrestle the cross out of her hands since as a woman she has no right to participate. A commotion follows and at the moment of heightened confusion Petrunija runs away with the cross. Over the next few hours her jump into the icy water becomes an Internet sensation. Petrunija is taken to a police station, and this is where her ordeal begins: against the local men, against the world, against the system. From a room to a corridor, to a room again, she spends the night being transferred around the impersonal governmental spaces. She insists that she is the winner and refuses to return the cross. One by one, the policemen, the inspector, the priest unsuccessfully try to convince her to give up. Through these 24 hours we discover a society full of stereotypes, with collapsed social and justice system.

What You Gonna Do When The World’s On Fireis the story of a community of black people in the American South during the summer 2017, when a string of brutal killings of black men sent shockwaves throughout the country. A meditation on the state of race in America, this film is an intimate portrait into the lives of those who struggle for justice, dignity, and survival in a country not on their side.

Gim, is nineteen. Through suffering he is starting to experience his homosexuality, but the world around him just can’t accept that. Renzo, his father, would have rather emasculated himself, than having fathered a homosexual. So the elder son, Alex, is stuck in the middle. On the one hand encouraging Gim to overcome all his fears, on the other trying to continue the tradition of the fathers.
The film follows the violent relationships among the family trigged by Gim’s coming out. The strength of the film is in the surprising intimacy between the characters and the camera, reached also thanks to a style which is pushing the boundaries between fiction and documentary to a point where this boundary is not relevant anymore...

In Uganda, starting in the early 1990s, Joseph Kony’s rebellion, the Lord’s Resistance Army, began mass abductions of young adolescents.
Indoctrinated and terrorized, these child soldiers were forced to fight the Army and commit innumerable atrocities against civilians.
Over the years, some 30,000 of them managed to escape the LRA and return home alive. Considered victims rather than perpetrators, they received amnesty and were reintegrated into society.
But the ghosts of the past cannot be so easily escaped.

Tales from the Amazon river. A boat-movie by João Leite.
Heading upriver, the documentary "Aquamazonida" lets the Amazon River speak for itself. Between popular legends and encounters with its habitants, it tells us about its journey from its mouth up to Manaus, in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. Its waters lit by an ever changing light, allow us to sneak up close to its many secrets.
Natural forces, one after the other, help make this trip a physical experience out of which magic sometimes surges, in the shape of the cobra grande ...
A generous film, that hopes to pay tribute to this entire Amazonian complex with all its peoples, its rivers and its forest.

Terrified by death, at nighttime men pray till the sun rise.
Although the inescapable destiny the Fate set, every nightfall the prayer keeps being said, and propitiatory fires burn on the ridge of a mountain for the night go by again.
The film aims to create a personal and imaginary liturgia, which represents religion as an unceasing and circular reaction to the fear of death.

In a desert village a woman is the only living. She doesn’t remeber whether she came on her own or if she was confined by someone. She is obsessed with imagining that someone is there too, looking for her, and that they can’t get to find each other.
An existentialist short tale of love and ghosts.
